Biking
The Greater Williamsburg area has over 25 scenic biking routes. Those looking to peddle can choose from the 23-mile Colonial Parkway. This trail connects Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. There’s also the 52-mile Virginia Capital Trail that runs from Jamestown to Richmond. There are even more cycle-friendly trails throughout Williamsburg and in the local parks.

Camping
Spend a night under the stars by securing overnight accommodations at one of the campgrounds in Williamsburg. Local campgrounds, including Williamsburg KOA, offer tons of amenities to keep the kids occupied. For more traditional camping, head to a local park, such as Chickahominy Riverfront Park, for fishing, swimming and more during the day.
Fishing
Anglers will find several locales for casting a line in the Williamsburg area. From lakes and rivers to the bay, there are plenty of places to reel in a great catch. The Little Creek Reservoir offers almost 1,000 acres for fishing. Find fishing piers at Yorktown Beach, Jamestown Beach and more.
Hiking
Hikes are a great way to view wildlife, amazing vistas and the area’s natural surroundings. Take a walk along the brick streets of Duke of Gloucester Street. Or, hit the trails of one of the local parks. Hiking these trails can range from an easy stroll to a more strenuous workout along varied terrain and elevations.
Kayaking
Navigate Greater Williamsburg’s waterways with a kayak or canoe. Kayaking and canoeing are a great way to explore the area’s tranquil waters and get up close to the area wildlife. Take a guided tour or rent a kayak from a local park for some self-exploration.
Ziplining
