Virginia’s Only Lighthouse Accommodations

The Light at Smithfield is an exact replica of a working Chesapeake Bay Style Lighthouse and boasts two spacious suites, one upstairs and one down. Enjoy panoramic views of the river, room to entertain, and access to the scenic overlook or wrap around deck. The Light is truly a unique destination stay.

Private Boardwalk Cottages

The Boardwalk Rooms and Cottages at Smithfield Station are located along the boardwalk between the Lighthouse and the Original Building. These unique rooms are truly waterfront as they sit anywhere from six to twenty feet from the marina and are all on the first floor.

Original Station Rooms

This original structure houses the Smithfield Station restaurant as well as 15 hotel rooms. The exterior of the Station is modeled after the old Coast Guard life-saving stations that proliferated the coast of Virginia and Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The Restaurant At Smithfield Station

One of the best things about staying at Smithfield Station is indulging in our award-winning restaurant! We are renowned for an extensive menu of fresh seafood, Smithfield ham, and ever popular Sunday Breakfast Buffet. Nightly, our talented chefs prepare mouth-watering specials from some of the areas freshest offerings of pork, fish or Smithfield Ham. Sample one of our specialty dishes, the Station’s own “Sweet Potato Encrusted Rockfish,” prepared with honey, stuffed with Smithfield Ham and fresh jumbo lump backfin crabmeat, rolled in sweet potato, pan seared and topped with pearl onions, honey cream sauce served with crispy sweet potato straws. Enjoy a quiet romantic dinner by candlelight overlooking the marina and marshes beyond, have dinner on the deck, or reserve our Private Dining Room for a special occasion or business dinner. In 2016, the Chesapeake Bay Magazine recognized the Restaurant with four separate Best of the Bay awards for: Best Restaurant for Crabcakes, Best Restaurant for a Gourmet Meal, Best Restaurant for the Whole Family, and Best Dockside Bar! The Restaurant at Smithfield Station is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and offers a variety of cuisine. The restaurant places an emphasis on fresh local seafood while combining the flair of legendary Smithfield Ham into many of their dishes. Reservations recommended. Gift certificates are available for the restaurant and bar in the denomination of your choice and are the perfect choice for you, family, friends, colleagues, or anyone else.

The Smithfield Station Marina

Tucked away and secluded on the Pagan River in Smithfield, Virginia, the Smithfield Station Marina is a serene refuge from the Chesapeake Bay and was recently recognized by Chesapeake Bay Magazine's Best of The Bay awards, in five separate categories, and for its seventh consecutive year! For multiple years, the Smithfield Station Marina has been recognized specifically for having The Best Dockmaster, Ron Pack and The Best Dockside Bar! Additionally, awarded for The Best Restaurant for Crabcakes, For The Whole Family and For A Gourmet Meal. Historic Smithfield is a charming diversion for cruisers who want to enjoy a colonial-era town and beautiful natural surroundings just off the James River. For those who crave a hardy and delicious meal after a day at sea, the marina’s restaurant features creative dishes featuring world famous Smithfield ham as well as the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay’s estuaries. Vessels arriving at Smithfield Station Marina will find a minimum low tide water depth of 6 feet with deep water slips available. The floating dock marina can accommodate vessels up to 130 feet in length. The transient rate is $2 per foot; long-term rates are also available.
