About Williamsburg Winery
Situated on Wessex Hundred, a 40-acre historic farm, The Williamsburg Winery wants you to “wine, dine and stay.” The winery was established in 1985 by the Duffeler family and released its first award-winning vintage, the Governor’s White, in 1988.
With experiences for oenophiles, couples, friends and more, there’s always something to do at the winery. Take a tour of Williamsburg Winery, enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the on-site restaurants and even stay the night at the beautiful Wedmore Place.
Williamsburg Winery Wines
Among the rolling hills of The Williamsburg Winery’s vineyard, acres of grape varietals are growing to cultivate award-winning wines. Visit one of Williamsburg Winery’s tasting rooms to sample or purchase a bottle of their signature red, white, dessert and specialty wines. The winery also produces reserve wines and special releases.
Williamsburg Winery Tasting Rooms
The Williamsburg Winery has two tasting rooms where you can sample the winery’s offerings and even enjoy a paired snack or meal. The original tasting room is located right at Wessex Hundred.
In 2017, Williamsburg Winery opened a tasting room in Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square. The tasting room serves wine flights, wine by the glass and wine by the bottle. Enjoy your vintage inside or out on the brick-lined street in the wine garden.
Williamsburg Winery Restaurants
Those looking to pair their wine with a delicious meal can do so at one of the two restaurants located at Wessex Hundred.
For lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, visit Gabriel Archer Tavern. This restaurant is located within the vineyard, offering a countryside view. Sip your wine while munching on a sandwich or salad. Gabriel Archer Tavern also hosts Williamsburg Winery’s Wine & Brine Lounge, a time when you can indulge in fresh, local oysters with your wine.
Open for dinner, Café Provencal proves that Williamsburg Winery’s craftsmanship extends beyond their wines. Café Provencal’s menu features locally sourced ingredients that will complement your wine selection.
Wedmore Place
After a day of wining and dining, rest your head with accommodations at Wedmore Place. The charming 28-room hotel is located right on the farm. Each room is intricately decorated with antiques and art from around Europe.
Book a room or select one of the packages available. Hotel packages include romantic escapes, a tasting trail package and a food and wine package. These packages allow you to bundle your wine and culinary experiences at The Williamsburg Winery with overnight accommodations at Wedmore Place.
Williamsburg Winery Events
The Williamsburg Winery hosts a number of events throughout the year, both at the winery and off-site. Popular events include live musical performances during Uncorked and Unplugged, as well as monthly wine seminars, holiday events and more. Williamsburg Winery Tour
Take a tour of the winery to sample the award-winning wines yourself. Tours include an Introduction to Wine Tour and Tasting, Virginia Wine Experience Tour and Tasting, Extensive Tour and Reserve Wine Tasting, Fine Wine Tasting, Reserve Wine Tasting, along with tastings that include lunch at Gabriel Archer Tavern. Tours can be booked on the Williamsburg Winery website.
The Williamsburg Winery is also on the Williamsburg Tasting Trail, allowing you to sample this winery as well as others in one experience.
Hours
The Williamsburg Winery Wessex Hundred tasting room is open Monday–Thursday from 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and Friday–Sunday from 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
The Merchants Square tasting room is open Monday–Saturday from noon–8 p.m. and Sunday from noon–6 p.m.
