About Virginia Spirits Month

In Virginia, September is designated as Virginia Spirits Month. The month-long holiday is dedicated to educating consumers and travelers about Virginia’s distilled spirits.

“Virginia is the birthplace of American spirits, and our 70 licensed distilleries are a part of the fastest growing sector of the beverage business,” says Governor Ralph Northam. “September is the ideal time to celebrate the rich history and important economic impact of this vital industry.”

Celebrate Virginia Spirits Month in Williamsburg by visiting one of the local distilleries or by having a drink made with Virginia spirits. Virginia Spirits Month will also include festivals, complimentary tastings, cocktail workshops and more throughout the state.

Virginia is home to several small-batch distilleries, with some in Williamsburg. Copper Fox Distillery and Eight Shires Coloniale Distillery are both on the Virginia Spirits Trail.
