Haunting on DoG Street

From Oct. 14–31, Colonial Williamsburg celebrates the Halloween season with Haunting on DoG Street. Experience Halloween festivities along Duke of Gloucester (DoG) Street and throughout the Historic Area.

Things to Do during Haunting on DoG Street

There are several things to see and do during the two-week Halloween celebration. Enjoy thrilling evening programs, ghost tours, creepy carriage rides, museum talks and more.

Trick-Or-Treat in Colonial Williamsburg

Register today for the fifth annual Haunting on DoG Street trick-or-treat. Children ages 12 and under can dress up and trick-or-treat down Duke of Gloucester Street. Along the way, you’ll encounter horsemen atop skeleton steeds, Blackbeard and his band of Buccaneers and many more. This event also features a Haunted Auction, Pumpkin Patch Dance Party and more.

Trick-or-treating is open to the public but requires a ticket separate from the Colonial Williamsburg admissions ticket.

Haunted Williamsburg

Discover Williamsburg’s Haunted History during the Haunted Williamsburg tour. This one-hour walking tour is led by candlelight through Colonial Williamsburg. Costumed storytellers will share tales as you tour the possibly haunted historic buildings within Colonial Williamsburg.

Official Ghost Walk Junior

For some more family-friendly frights, sign the kids up for Colonial Williamsburg’s Official Ghost Walk Junior. This 45-minute ghost tour features traditional spooky stories, free of nightmares, with a Colonial Williamsburg twist.

Colonial Williamsburg Escape Room: Spies & Lies

Can you solve the mysteries in Colonial Williamsburg’s escape room? Team up to decipher clues as you enter the world of spies during the Revolutionary War.

Monsters, Mayhem and Musick

Catch a performance from The Governor’s Musick, Colonial Williamsburg’s baroque ensemble. These concerts will feature the darker side of baroque music through spooky thematic songs. These instrumental pieces will evoke haunting images of witches, furies, monsters and more. These performances are not appropriate for children age 6 and younger.

More Evening Programs

Other evening programs during Haunting on DoG Street include, Cry Witch, The Trial of a Patriot and To Hang a Pirate. You’ll get a front row seat to the trials of Grace Sherwood, a suspected witch, along with an American Patriot and Israel Hands, a member of Blackbeard’s pirate crew.

Colonial Williamsburg Halloween Activities

In addition to Haunting on DoG Street, there are several other Halloween-themed activities that are included with your membership ticket to Colonial Williamsburg.

Hear a discussion from historian Carson Hudson on colonial Virginia’s views on the supernatural and witches during the program Witchcraft in Colonial Williamsburg. Hudson wrote a book of the same name.

Learn how to face your fears on this guided tour at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Face Your Fears will showcase the museum’s creepy, scary and some not-so-scary artifacts and objects. Then, create creepy crafts that are inspired by one of these objects at the museum.
