Capt. John Rodgers: Hero of the Battle of Wausau Sound

John Rodgers was the son of the War of 1812 hero Commodore John Rodgers. The younger Rodgers commanded the North Pacific Exploration and Surveying Expedition in 1854. When the war began, Rodgers went with Flag Officer Hiram Paulding to try to save Gosport Navy Yard on April 20, 1861.
