Whether you are a coaster enthusiast or a family looking for a world-class getaway, Busch Gardens Williamsburg continues to earn its title as the “World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park.” As we move into the 2026 season, the park is blending nostalgia with cutting-edge technology, featuring the massive re-imagining of a fan-favorite coaster and a lineup of award-winning new attractions.

What’s New for 2026?
1. The Rebirth of a Legend: Verbolten: Forbidden Turn
The headline news for 2026 is the grand reopening of the park’s multi-launch coaster. Formerly known simply as Verbolten, the ride has been transformed into Verbolten: Forbidden Turn.
- The Story: The “Black Forest Motor Tours” is under new management, and the whimsical vibes of the past have vanished. The 2026 version features a darker, more “foreboding” atmosphere.
- The Experience: Riders still experience the high-speed launches and the sudden vertical drop, but with all-new immersive storytelling, upgraded special effects, and “shadows that move when they shouldn’t” inside the show building.
2. Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge
Now entering its first full year as a fan favorite, this spiritual successor to the legendary Big Bad Wolf was recently named one of the Top 10 New Theme Park Attractions in the country.
- As North America’s longest family inverted coaster, it’s the perfect “bridge” ride for kids not quite ready for Apollo’s Chariot but looking for serious thrills.
- Pro Tip: For the first time, this coaster is now part of the winter lineup, remaining open during the Christmas Town event.
3. Loch Ness Monster: The Legend Lives On
If you haven’t visited since the major 2024 restoration, “Nessie” is better than ever. The world’s only interlocking double-loop coaster features 900 feet of new track for a smoother ride, a brand-new soundtrack on the lift hill, and enhanced “monster sightings” inside the cave.
2026 Special Events Calendar
Busch Gardens is a year-round destination with festivals that change the park’s atmosphere every few months:
- Mardi Gras (Jan 30 – Mar 8): Celebrate “Fat Tuesday” every weekend with over 40 Cajun food items and New Orleans-style street entertainment.
- St. Patrick’s Day Celebration (Mar 12 – 17): The village of Killarney comes alive with Irish luck, green beer, and the world-famous Celtic Fyre dance show.
- Food & Wine Festival (Apr 23 – June 21): One of the East Coast’s premier culinary events. 2026 features over 150 international flavors and 80 new menu items.
- Summer of Wonder & AquaGlow (June 26 – July 30): Summer nights are headlined by the new AquaGlow event at Water Country USA—a neon-soaked nighttime experience with DJ sets and laser lights.
- Howl-O-Scream (Sept 11 – Nov 1): The park transforms at 6:00 PM into a landscape of haunted houses and “scare zones.”
- Christmas Town (Nov 13 – Jan 3, 2027): Featuring over 10 million lights, the all-new Christmas Town Live! show in Das Festhaus, and holiday shopping throughout the European villages.
New Shows & Entertainment
2026 introduces a fresh entertainment lineup:
- “Across the Pond! Legends of the UK”: A high-energy musical journey through British rock and pop history.
- “Kinetix: A New Generation”: Returning to the Royal Palace Theatre, this show mixes modern acrobatics with a driving rock soundtrack.
- “OktoberZest”: Head to Das Festhaus for this updated German musical show that pairs perfectly with a bratwurst and a beer.
2026 Visitor Tips
- Go Cashless: Busch Gardens is now a fully cashless park. If you only have cash, look for the “Cash-to-Wire” kiosks near the entrance to transfer your money onto a prepaid debit card.
- The 2026 Membership: The new membership tiers (Basic, Unlimited, Premier, Platinum) now offer “Busch Bucks” (spending credit) and first-to-ride access for Verbolten: Forbidden Turn.
- Water Country USA: If you’re visiting in the summer, Water Country is only three miles away. The 2-Park Fun Card is the most cost-effective way to see both.
