The month of March is full of fun and exciting events all across Greater Williamsburg. Whether you’re searching for family-friendly events, food and drink events, live music or free festivals, you’ll have plenty of options to choose. Ongoing-Mar. 8: Busch Gardens® Mardi Gras
Let the good times roll at Busch Gardens® Mardi Gras, every weekend from January 30 through March 8. Celebrate with jazzy live music, classic Cajun flavors, and returning favorites like Carnaval Imaginique, an electrifying cirque show in the Globe Theatre. Enjoy vibrant entertainment throughout all nine of Busch Gardens’ villages with an exciting New Orleans-style event for the whole family. Treat your tastebuds with over forty mouth-watering bayou favorites, like the Crawfish Boil, fried oyster po’boy, handcrafted cocktails and iconic warm beignets. The Big Easy meets big thrills with world-class roller coasters, rides and kid-friendly play areas. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind party every Friday through Sunday!

Throughout March: Women’s History Month at Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg celebrates Women’s History Month in March with special programming that pays tribute to the lives and relationship of colonial women. Hear from a panel of experts that examine the roles women played during the colonial period and in the Revolutionary War. Take a tour of the opulent home of Peyton and Elizabeth Randolph and learn about the relationship between gentry women and the enslaved maidservants.
March 7: Williamsburg Book Festival
Williamsburg Book Festival is a free literary event held at the Stryker Center featuring authors, poets, publishers, and literary speakers.
March 12-17: St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
Come out to Busch Gardens on select dates + St. Patrick’s Day March 12 – 17, 2026. The festivity continues as Irish spirit, luck and celebration fill Killarney village.
March 16-22: Ampersand International Arts Festival
For over a decade The Ampersand International Arts Festival (previously the W&M Global Film Festival) has brought the William & Mary and Williamsburg communities together for an annual celebration of film and live performances.
March 21-April 19: Busch Gardens® Sesame Street® Kids’ Weekends
Busch Gardens Williamsburg is open in March for the Sesame Street® Kids’ Weekends from March 21-April 19, 2026. The family fun continues all month long on select days with Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby & all of your Sesame Street® Friends for fun-filled weekends.
