Here are our top five events happening in Williamsburg during September.

Sept. 4: Battle of the Capes: The British Navy and the Sunken Fleet

This tour will take you to the banks of the York River where we will discuss the valuable port of Yorktown. On September 5, the dramatic Battle at the Virginia Capes helped secure victory for the Allied Army. The tour will conclude with a discussion of the British ships that sunk to the bottom of the river.

Sept. 8: Ride and Wrench Series

Each month for the Ride and Wrench Series, we’ll meet at Chickahominy Riverfront Park for an all-inclusive group ride on city paths for about 10 miles. After we ride, we’ll take some time to teach some basic maintenance skills. We’ll have maintenance tool giveaways that correspond to the skill we’ll be practicing that month. And, as always, we’ll provide tasty refreshments and excellent hospitality. So bring a friend or bring all your friends. This is gonna be fun!

Beginning Sept. 9- Oct 31: Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream

Fall officially begins at Busch Gardens Williamsburg with the park’s annual Howl-O-Scream. This frightful, month-long event features haunted houses with monsters lurking around every corner, themed scare zones, escape rooms and entertaining live shows. All of Howl-O-Scream’s attractions and activities are included with your admissions ticket to Busch Gardens.

Sept. 10-11: Patriots Triathlon Festival

End Greater Williamsburg’s race season with the Patriots Triathlon Festival, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11. Right next door to Jamestown Settlement, this race features a long course, Olympic and sprint options. The swim will take place at Jamestown Beach and the bike course will be along the Route 5 Cap-Cap bike trail.

Sept. 30-Oct. 2: An Occasion for the Arts

An Occasion for the Arts, now in its 54th year, is Williamsburg’s premier fine art and music festival. The event draws nearly 150 artisans from across 22 states to Williamsburg, Virginia to showcase their art. Make no mistake. This is not just an art show. It’s a festival, with live music on stage throughout the event, cultural performances happening throughout the festival streets (Duke of Gloucester Street and surrounding areas), and a Youth Art Exhibition.

In 2022, An Occasion for the Arts will expand to become a three-day festival that also includes a Friday evening event, An Evening for the Arts.
