Presenter: Jonathan W. White, author, editor, and associate professor of American Studies at Christopher Newport University
FREE for Mariners’ Museum Members; $10 per guest. Advance registration is required.

About the lecture: Encounter the remarkable story of the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and the Black community during the crucible of the Civil War with Jonathan White, author of A House Built By Slaves. Mariners will appreciate Jonathan’s attention to the sailors and soldiers who met with or wrote to Lincoln.

Viewers are welcome to send Jonathan any comments or questions during the presentation, and he will answer them following the lecture. This lecture is part of the Museum’s programming to celebrate Black History Month.
