Become an Oyster Gardener!
The world is your oyster!
Did you know oysters are the Chesapeake Bay’s best natural filters? They also provide essential habitat for fish and other Bay creatures.
Come learn how to be an “adopted parent” to oysters as The Mariners’ Museum and Park proudly partners with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to host an Oyster Gardening Seminar.
This seminar will give people of all ages the opportunity and knowledge to grow oysters alongside a dock, community pier, marina, or a waterfront business. Once grown, the adult oysters are returned to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for planting on sanctuary reefs.
Join a community of over 300 Virginians who are helping to clean up the water by becoming a volunteer oyster gardener. It’s a low-maintenance and fun family activity. Plus, oysters are the easiest pets you’ll ever own!
