Experience Four Days of Music at the Winter Blues Jazz Fest

Williamsburg has several venues for live music and entertainment. The city is a popular locale for locals and visitors alike to grab a bite to eat, or a drink as they relax to the sounds of live entertainment. In January, one of the most highly anticipated musical events is the Winter Blues Jazz Fest.

About the Winter Blues Jazz Fest

Now in its sixth year, the Winter Blues Jazz Fest is a four-day event. From January 16–19, venues throughout downtown Williamsburg will host events centered around jazz and blues music.

The goal of the Winter Blues Jazz Fest is to “provide an enriching and entertaining weekend full of jazz and blues programs.” The Winter Blues Jazz Fest will have something to offer all festival goers.

Winter Blues Jazz Fest Events

Thursday, January 16

The festival kicks off on Thursday with an opening celebration, featuring Alise and the Eveready Jazz Scene, at The Williamsburg Winery.

Friday, January 17

Friday will feature two of events. The first, Mixology & Music, one of the festival’s most popular event. Sample cocktails made by more than 12 of the area’s best bartenders and mixologists as high-energy live music plays. 504 Supreme and the Truetone Honeys will be performing. Then, head to The Williamsburg Inn for the Friday night after party, featuring Sam Rucker.

Saturday, January 18

Saturday will have a full day of events. Big Bluesy will have live blues music on two stages under a heated tent. Trudy Lynn and Erin and the Wildfire will both be performing. Also inside the tent, festival goers can sip a collection of local beer, wine and cider, provided by DoG Street Pub. Included with the ticket price for this event will be street food from Blue Talon Bistro.

Later in the day, the Art of Jazz, featuring Desiree Roots, will be at the Lane Auditorium at the Bruton Heights Complex. Saturday night, at the Williamsburg Lodge’s Colony Room, dress for the Roaring ‘20s party featuring the world-famous Hot Sardines. The event will conclude with a late-night speakeasy with Zuzu’s Hot Five.

Sunday, January 19

Sunday, the final day of the Winter Blues Jazz Fest, begins with a Gospel Brunch at the Williamsburg Lodge. The Ingramettes, an acclaimed gospel group, will take guests on a spiritual journey as Chef Justin whips up a great meal.

Don’t miss the free afternoon event, Festival Chill Out. Modern Muse Quartet will be on stage at Precarious Beer Hall. End Winter Blues Jazz Fest with the Festival Closing Celebration in The Williamsburg Lodge’s Colony Room. The Justin Kauflin Trio will perform.
