During the fall season, the mood at Busch Gardens changes. Fall nights are full of fright during Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
Howl-O-Scream is Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s annual celebration of the Halloween season, From Sept. 14 through Oct. 27. Once the sun goes down, terror is unleashed throughout the park. Busch Gardens will have elaborate haunted houses, themed scare zones, escape rooms and live shows. The regular children’s attractions close at 5 p.m. Families with young children at the park after 5 p.m. should take the elevated scare factor into consideration.
Howl-O-Scream Activities and Attractions
As you explore the park after dark, make your way (if you dare) through Busch Gardens’ six “terror-tories.”
New France becomes Axe Alley filled with the ghosts of Viking warriors. Then, head to the Fool’s Court where a new king has taken the throne at the Royal Palace. Watch out for the jesters waiting to terrorize you. Italy is now the Garden of Souls™, where the dead roam free. Jack the Ripper takes over England and turns the area into a more unsettling place. Your jaw will drop at the haunts, curiosities and more at Sideshow Square, at Festa Italia. Bloodsucking vampires roam Germany, turning it into Vampire Point.
Howl-O-Scream’s best attractions are the six, indoor and outdoor haunted house mazes. Each has a different theme and terrifying creatures, monsters and more lurking around. Experience Circo Sinistro, Demented Dimensions, Dystopia, Frostbite, Lumberhack and Vault Overtaken.
You certainly won’t want to miss the spirited shows during Howl-O-Scream. These take place at Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s indoor stages. There are three shows this year: Monster Stomp on Ripper Row, Night Beats: Revamped and Jack is Back. Jack is Back is a street-style performance in Ireland.
Enter the newest escape room, No Escape: Grave Obsession. You’ll certainly be left trembling after the shocking revelation. A second escape room, No Escape: Jack’s Twisted Terror, can be purchased as an add-on as well. Busch Gardens’ original trickster, Jack, is back with new ways to startle those who enter his escape room.
While many of the Howl-O-Scream attractions and activities are included with your admissions ticket to Busch Gardens, additional add-ons can be purchased for your Howl-O-Scream experience, including the escape rooms.
Take a terrifying tour of the “Best of Howl-O-Scream” on Howl-O-Scream Eerie Tour. This two-hour guided tour takes you through all six of Busch Gardens’ haunted houses.
Get an all-access look at everything Howl-O-Scream has to offer with a seven-hour guided tour. You’ll have priority access to all of the chilling activities and attractions, along with dinner and a show at Das Festhaus.
